Mary Ann C. O'Brien

Mary Ann C. O'Brien is a Partner and Senior Appellate and Litigation Attorney with Crammer, Bishop and O'Brien, P.C., a defense litigation firm in Absecon, New Jersey. She concentrates her practice in the defense of health care professionals and facilities in medical malpractice actions. In her 35 plus years as an attorney, she has been involved in more than 20 reported decisions and has successfully argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court, Ms. O'Brien is a Trustee of the Burlington County Bar Association, President of the Burlington County Bar Foundation and a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Medical Malpractice Special Committee. She is also a Trustee of Trial Attorneys of New Jersey (TANJ) and the NJSBA Women in the Profession Section, Co-Chair of the Burlington County Bar Association's Civil Practice and Women in the Profession Committees, and a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection in Civil and Criminal Trials. As Surrogate of Burlington County, Ms. O'Brien also serves as Judge of the Surrogate's Court of Burlington County as well as Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Probate and Family Parts. She has been a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars on topics including medical malpractice, civil trial practice, as well as appellate practice and procedure.

Ms. O'Brien received her B.A. from Pennsylvania State University, her J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Dayton School of Law, and her LL.M. in Trial Advocacy, with Honors, from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she now serves as Faculty in the Program.
